This medication belongs to a class of drugs known as wakefulness-promoting agents where it keeps a person awake. It is usually prescribed for patients with the condition of narcolepsy and shift work sleep disorder.
For treating narcolepsy, Armodafinil is usually prescribed to be taken only once per day in the morning. For shift-work sleep disorder, take it an hour before your shift starts.
Side-Effects:
Dry mouth, dizziness, and nausea are common side effects that occur once you have taken the medication. Serious side effects such as depression, hallucination, and suicidal thoughts do not occur, but if it happens consult your doctor immediately.
Precautions:
Tell your doctor if you are allergic to any of the components of the drug as they may contain inactive ingredients that cause allergic reactions in certain people. Do not take this medication late in the day as it might give rise to insomnia.
Tell your doctor if you are using any other medications apart from Armodafinil to avoid any adverse reactions that may be caused due to the drug interactions. It is known to have serious interaction with at least 35 different drugs.
If you have been taking high doses of Armodafinil for quite a long then you are prone to experience withdrawal symptoms. To help prevent such negativities, inform your doctor so that they may gradually reduce your dosage amount
